Fly Fishing 201: On Water Instruction

This class is designed for the beginner and novice angler.  If you’ve taken The Drift’s “Intro to Fly Fishing” class this is the perfect next step. The class covers a wide variety of skills needed to consistently catch trout on a fly. Topics include safe wading, reading the water, line management (what you do with the line once the fly hits the water), playing/landing fish, and instruction on overhead, roll and tension casting. The class includes a brief introduction of trout foods and how to distinguish between the four main types of aquatic insects.  Principals of nymph fishing will also be addressed.

The class size is limited to 4 anglers per instructor to ensure a good learning environment.  This is a 5 to 6 hour class and the cost is $75/person.  Payment is required to hold a spot.  Please call (719) 543-3900 or just stop by the shop to make your reservation.
