The Drift Fly Shop’s Entomology Classes


 

Beginner Entomology Class:
 
Need to brush up on the difference between a Caddis and a Midge? Not sure what fly to use when you see a hatch? Our beginner Entomology Class can help.
 
This four hour class begins in the shop where you will learn:
-     Basics on identifying the insects vital to the Arkansas River Tailwater
-     Understanding hatch cycles
-     Matching insect to flies
-     How fish perceive their food
 
Then the class hits the river:
-     On the water collecting, observing, and identifying.
 
Cost: $25.00

Advanced Entomology Class:
 
If you can identify a midge stream side or have already taken The Drift’s beginner entomology class, but you would love to know MORE about bugs this class for you.
 
This is a four hour class.  The curriculum goes beyond identification and details information on hatch cycles, insect mobility, fish insect recognition tools, keys to applying this knowledge to your fishing.  
 
The class is taught at The Drift Fly Shop and will use photos, diagrams, video, preserved and live specimens to aid your learning.
 
The cost of the class is $25.00
