Winston BIIISX: Now at The Drift

    

      
Here at The Drift we stake our reputation on the products we stock and before we decide whether or not to put our stamp of approval on something we do our research. So when Winston announced the release of their new rod, the BIIISX, we went to work.  If you happened to drive by the shop about a month ago you might have seen Alex (shop owner), Connell (head guide), and Cat (jack of all trades) testing out the new Winston and after putting it through our trials we were quite impressed (Connell already ordered two as private rods).

What we found was not too far off what Winston had promised about the new rod. It was extremely smooth and had great feel. The rod is fast action and handles high line speeds with ease. It is not the fastest or stiffest rod on the market, but the five weight has the power to turn over a heavy nymph rig.

While being a great rod for fresh water the BIIISX also ranks high in the saltwater category as well, it won the IFTD "Best of Show-Fly Rod Saltwater" award.

We will have the BIIISX in the shop by Dec. 19th and encourage everyone to come in and give it a test cast.
